With six monasteries built on natural sandstone rock pillars, Meteora consists of unique and huge columns of rock that offer breath-taking views and an incredibly rich history dating back 23,000 years ago.
Most people explore Meteora by foot and can take guided tours around the site and hike up to visit the monasteries. With two towns nestled next to Meteora, there is plenty of accommodation and other sites to see – you can even climb to the top of one of the Meteora rocks and try to spot your hotel if you’re staying nearby!
